Business
Arising From the Minutes:
· Bob S. circulated a report on club volleyball
· RVCI is in violation of our constitution
because they do not have any players from other schools
on their club team
· club volleyball teams are currently not paying
a gym rental fee and according to this organization
they should be
· further discussion has been tabled until
next meeting - Bob S. will look into other sports
as well
· Larry S. spoke to the paper about how we
can get higher profile coverage for our high school
sports
· coaches need to get the information sheet
into the paper the night of the game, we need to do
a better job with the tally sheets, and make sure
everything is filled in correctly
· if the commissioners keep track of stats
the paper will publish them when they are submitted
· Brad M. is noticing that the score sheets
and tally sheets do not usually match and in the future
will send them back to the school to be redone
· Larry S. stressed that this information needs
to get to all coaches and staff in charge of the minor
officiating
· Larry S. asked Brad to look into a similar
poster (as Saskatoon's) for Moose Jaw for the 04/05
school year
Commissioner's
Reports:
Volleyball:
· report will be presented next month
Basketball:
· SIAST has been booked for Sr. city finals
· Larry has a "to do" list for the
Sr. city final and will forward it to Brad
· Brad M. would like the original score sheet
sent to him the following day
· Martin would also like the original copy
of the score sheet asap
· remind all players that they need a valid
student card to get into the games or they will have
to pay admission
· has anyone noticed board members in the stands
since Dave R. sent out season passes? No
· Renee submitted her report for the Jr. tournament
- Thanks Renee for all of your hard work!
· the Classic tournament will be held at Vanier
and Central this year
· Bob G. would like to look at two 16 team
tournaments for next year
· Bob G. plans on using all four gyms as much
as possible
· do we want to look at charging for our tournaments
next year?
· Linda S. wonders if a letter should be sent
to tournament organizers asking for a reciprocal no
charging agreement.
· Larry S. - do we want to apply for Regional
hosting? Yes
· Thursday Feb. 5 the Newfoundlanders play
RVCI @ RVCI - game time 7:00
Curling:
· playoffs for boys and girls - Mar. 4-6 in
Nipawin, mixed in Assiniboia
Golf:
· application for golf needs to be filled out
and submitted - Ned!
· shot gun start scheduled for May 30, 31??
New
Business:
· the website is up and running
· Larry S. would like to post championship
lists, so please check to see if you have any city
championship trophies in your school
· next AGM meeting - Jan. 28 @ 3:45 - Board
Office
· Larry is still looking for volunteers from
CCI for the AGM
· football coaches can tentatively accept pre-season
tournament invites
· any students that are interested in officiating
elementary school basketball should be in contact
with Brad M. asap
· Motion: (Ned) 2nd (Renee) that the time between
quarters be shortened from two minutes to one minute
for the rest of the regular season and for tournaments
