Business
Arising From the Minutes:
· none
Commissioner's
Reports:
Basketball:
· Brad congratulated all city championship teams
· Classic - See Ned's report
· Motion: (Clayton) 2nd (Linda) to adopt the
Classic report - Carried
Curling:
· Merv handed out the curling report
· Motion: (Clayton) 2nd (Blake) to adopt the
curling report - Carried
· Merv announced that he will be stepping down
as the curling commissioner
· Judy Samoleski will be taking over as commissioner
· a big thanks to Merv for all he has done over
the years
· Larry would like to organize all the curling
trophies so that the website could be updated for all
past championships
Badminton:
· league starts the 23rd of March
Track:
· are we in need of new city uniforms?
· this years head coach is Vanier
· work on the track at Gutheridge field will
begin in the spring - four consecutive nice days are
needed to complete the work
Football:
· provincial football is scheduled for Nov. 13
· the first league game may be Sept. 10 - we
are waiting to hear from Regina
· practice start date is scheduled for Aug. 26
Soccer:
· PCI and CCI are purchasing flex nets, the others
school may want to look into this
· outside coaches and the tier II league needs
to be discussed before the season
New
Business:
· Blake would like the first day of school to
be the official start date for football
· Renee would like to know the procedure or who
decides the official start date for our activities
· these start dates and schedules need to be
finalized before the June meeting
· coaches and commissioners need to meet prior
to the June meeting to finalize the schedules
· we need to be thinking about Merit Award recipients
· we also need to be thinking about outstanding
male and female coaches
· criteria for the outstanding coaching awards
are on page 129 on the handbook
· Motion: (Trevor) 2nd (Clayton) that April is
the meeting to discuss award nominees - Carried
· motions for things to be change at the provincial
level need to be presented at the next meeting
