CROSS COUNTRY

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

1. Player eligibility must be submitted no later than 24 hours prior to the first meet. Further additions to the player list during the season must also be submitted 24 hours prior to participation in cross country meets.

AGE CLASSES AND DISTANCES

- SENIOR - over 16 as of September 1st of the current school year.
- JUNIOR - under 16 as of August 31st of the current school year.
- MIDGET - under 15 as of August 31st of the current school year.

Senior Boys - 6000 metres Senior Girls - 4000 metres
Junior Boys - 5000 metres Junior Girls - 4000 metres
Midget Boys - 4000 metres Midget Girls - 3000 metres

DISTRICT TEAMS


1. A district may enter a maximum of ten competitors in any division.
2. The top four finishers from each school will be considered as the scoring members of the team and will be used to calculate the team total points. The top four participants will be selected from any of the six cross country categories.

DISTRICT NUMBERS


1. The following number have been assigned to the Moose Jaw District: Moose Jaw: 700 - 749.
2. Competitors should wear District colours and must wear District numbers.

RULES

1. The cross country run shall be over a course of 3000m to 6000m in length. Measurement shall be along the middle of the course. The course shall be clearly marked by a wide chalk line or by sign posts with large directional arrows wherever the course turns, or by flags about one foot square mounted on stakes which hold them to the ground.

Flag designations:
A RED flag generally indicates a turn to the LEFT.
A WHITE flag generally indicates a turn to the RIGHT.
A YELLOW flag generally indicates STRAIGHT AHEAD.

- Cross country running is intended as an Aoff-track@ activity and, therefore, a variety of terrain must be expected by the competitor. Prepared surfaces should not be expected and a variety of footing caused by natural terrain and weather conditions must be accepted as part of the competition.
- Competitors in cross country events are not allowed to receive any assistance or refreshments from any person during the progress of the race.
