GENERAL
POLICIES
1. Eligibility:
a) All member schools are required to follow
SHSAA procedure for registering students
b) E-10 forms must be submitted to the SHSAA
office on OCTOBER 1ST. A copy of the E-10 forms must also
be submitted to the district treasurer by OCTOBER 15th AND
A cheque, made out to NORTH CENTRAL DISTRICT and based upon
$0.75 per student in grades 9 through 12 inclusive, must
accompany this form.
c) To compete against other SHSAA member schools
you must be a member of good standing within the SHSAA.
Failure to submit the $0.75 student levy fee and form to
the North Central District will deem your school ineligible
for ALL competition until E10 form and fees are submitted
to the District Treasurer.
d) Hosting will be awarded on a bid process
for all non classified activities (Cross country, Golf,
Badminton, Curling, Track & Field)
SPORT SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Sport: BADMINTON
1. Equipment and facility requirements
a) In accordance with current SHSAA specifications.
See SHSAA handbook.
b) All players in doubles events must wear
protective glasses unless regular prescription glasses
are worn. All students of Saskatchewan Rivers School Division
participating in Singles events must also wear protective
glasses or prescription glasses at all times.
2. Entries
a) E-5 form should be forwarded to the
SHSAA office and the district commissioner by required
date of SHSAA
b) Participants may enter only one event.
Coaches must enter the names of all eligible players on
the and forward the entries to the district commissioner.
c) Draw will be a 12 team Double knock
out
d) Representation will be as follows:
Missinipe 2 per event
Former Parkland 3 per event (incl: Debden, Shellbrook,
Canwood, Big River, Ahtahkakoop & SeSeWa Hum)
P.A. Catholic 2 per event
P.A. Rural 2 per event (incl: Meath Park, Birch Hills,
Kinistino, St. Louis)
P.A. City 3 per event (incl: Carlton, P.A.C.I, Wesmor,
Sturgeon Lake)
* if a team drops out, P.A. City may add
a 4th team. If more drop outs, spot will be determined
by North Central District Executive in conjunction with
the Badminton commissioner to determine the next most
competitive entry.
3. Rules of Play
Current SHSAA guidelines will be followed
, including:
1) All games are played to 15 points.
2) Games may be set at 14-14.
3) A match winner wins the best of 3 games.
4) The Honor System will be used.
5) Any disputes or questions should be brought to the
attention of the commissioner.
4. Officials
The honor system will be used with the commissioner
having authority to settle disputes.
5. Play-off Structure : Double Knock out 12
team draw
6. Time Guidelines : competition will be played
during the afternoon of a week day no less than 4 days before
Regional playoff
7. Awards
District medals are awarded to the individual
winners.
Sport: BASKETBALL
Follow SHSAA guidelines as Basketball is a
Classified activity
Sport: CROSS COUNTRY
1. Equipment and Facility Requirements
a) For course distances, see SHSAA handbook.
b) The course should include as many hills as possible.
c) The ideal course is a loop.
d) The course should be clearly marked in the colored
system of flags.
e) Stop watches, clipboard and a recording area should
be provided.
2. Entries
a) District commissioner will fax Cross
Country entry forms to all teams registered for Cross
Country with SHSAA by mid-September. District Commissioner
will also contact P4A representative to inquire which
schools will be participating in the P4A meet held in
conjunction with the NCDAA meet.
b) The age groups are : Pee Wee, Bantam
(P4A), Junior, Midget, Senior (NCDAA)
c) There are no limitations as to the number
of entries per school.
3. Rules of Play:
Refer to the SHSAA handbook. Schedule will
be as follows:
11:30-12:00 Registration/Scratches of Runners
12:00-12:30 Walk Through of course
12:30-12:45 Peewee Girls (1km)
12:45-1:00 Peewee Boys (2km)
1:00 - 1:15 Bantam Girls (2km)
1:15 - 1:30 Bantam Boys (3 km)
1:30 - 1:45 Midget Girls (3 km)
1:45 - 2:00 Midget Boys (4km)
2:00 - 2:15 Junior Girls (4km)
2:15 - 2:30 Junior Boys (5 km)
2:30 - 2:45 Senior Girls (4 km)
2:45 - 3:00 Senior Boys (6 km)
4. Officials
The minimum requirements for officials are
as follows:
timers - 2
recorders - 2
starter - 1
spotter - 5+ .
6. Time Guidelines
This event shall be held at least 10 days
prior to the provincial competition. A schedule of starting
times should be forwarded to all schools who have entered
at least one week prior to the competition.
7. Awards
1) Age group winners shall receive District
medals. 2) Participation Ribbons shall be awarded to all
competitors upon crossing the finish line
Sport: CURLING
1. Equipment and Facility Requirements
a) In accordance with current SHSAA specifications.
See SHSAA handbook.
b) A minimum of three sheets of ice (preferably
artificial) are required.
c) All standard curling equipment may be
used.
2. Entries
a ) E5 forms must be forwarded to the SHSAA
by early December. E5 forms must be forwarded to the District
commissioner no later than 3 weeks prior to District competition.
b) District commissioner will set up draws
in accordance to schools that have registered teams with
the SHSAA.
3. Rules of Play
District Competition will follow rules of
play as outlined in SHSAA handbook
4. Officials
The commissioner is encouraged to arrange
for qualified judges to be present for all games.
5. Play-off Structure
A complete double knock out 8 team draw
should be used. Representation will be as follows:
P.A. City 2 Parkland 2 (includes Debden,
Shellbrook, Canwood, Big River)
P. A. Catholic 1 P.A. Rural 2 (includes Meath Park, Birch
Hills, Kinistino, St. Louis)
Missinipe 1
* In the event that an area is unable to
fill their position, the open spot will go to another
area determined by the NCDAA executive
6. Time Guidelines
a) The tournament should be held on a Friday
starting at noon and all day Saturday.
b) At least two hours should be allowed
for all games.
7. Awards
District medals are awarded to the individual
team winners.
Sport: FOOTBALL
Follow SHSAA guidelines as Football is a Classified
activity
Sport: GOLF
1. Equipment and Facility Requirements
a) See SHSAA handbook.
b) Host center must supply adequate scorecards
for all players.
c) Competitors must supply their own equipment.
2. Entries
a) Competitors may enter only one of sand
green or grass green.
b) District Commissioner will fax eligible
schools based on registration information from SHSAA
c) Coaches must submit E5 forms to SHSAA
AND submit individual names to District Commissioner
d) Green fees are the responsibility of
the golfer.
8. Rules of Play
Follow guidelines/ rules as outlined by
SHSAA
9. Officials
Two course marshals should move about the
course to make sure that all rules are adhered to.
10. District Tournament Format
a) The grass green tournament will consist
of 18 holes; the sand green tournament will consist of
18 holes.
b) The structure is governed by the SHSAA
rules.
c) Tournament Representation will be as
follows:

St. Mary (one team & individuals)
Rivier
Missinipe (one team & individuals)
*including Montreal Lake
Independant (one team & individuals)

11. Time Guidelines
The tournament should be held on a week
day, no less than one week prior to Provincials
12. Awards
District medals are awarded to the individual
and team winners in each of the sand green and grass green
tournaments.
Sport: SOCCER
Follow SHSAA guidelines as Soccer is a Classified
activity
Sport: TRACK & Field
1. Equipment and Facility Requirements
a) Adequate equipment should be available
to run all events. Other schools within the district may
be requested to bring equipment.
b) A discus cage must be available.
2. Entries
a) Four entries per event in the midget,
junior, and senior age groups.
b) Entries must be emailed in to the commissioner
at least 3 days prior to the meet.
c) E-5 form should be sent only to the
SHSAA office with all participants listed.
d) Students may only compete at any competition
at the level at which they are registered ie. no bumping
up.
e) Grade 8 students are ineligible for
competition (if not High school, not eligible)
f) Representation is as follows:
4 conferences with 4 representatives from
each conference
Carlton (4) Parkland (4) includes former
Parkland schools & schools from Missinipe
P.A. Catholic (4) P.A Area(4) includes
St. Louis, Kinistino, Meath Park, Birch Hills, PACI &
Wesmor)
* Each conference will also include any
Independent & Band schools within their geographic
area
3. Rules of Play The meet will be conducted
in accordance with guidelines listed in the SHSAA handbook.
4. Officials
a) The commissioner must assign duties
to each division.
b) There must be 2 officials per field
event.
c) There must be at least 11 officials
for the track.
5. Playoff Structure
All 200m & 1500m races & Pole Vault
must be run off the night before the meet day.
6. Time Guidelines
The meet should be scheduled for the Monday/Tuesday
of the week prior to the Provincial meet and moved to
the first suitable day in the case of rain out.
7. Awards
a) District medals are awarded to the 6
age group winners.
b) First, second and third place ribbons
are awarded in every event.
8. A jury of appeal for the Track and Field
meet shall consist of the executive members, meet directors,
and any other person named prior to the meet.
