The SWAC basketball leagues resumed play after the Christmas break. The senior league on Jan 9 saw the Swift Current Jr Colts host Frontier and come away with the 83-26 victory. The Colts top scorer was Adrian Maneclang with 13 pts. Adding 10 pts were Tristen Urquhart-Nelson and Alex Wollbaum. The Raiders top scorer was Nick Besoyo with 8 pts. The other boys’ game saw Shaunavon Shadows get the road victory in Maple Creek 84-42 to remain undefeated in league play. Nixen Voll had 31 pts for the Shadows while Austin Smith added 21. The top scorer for Maple Creek was Tyson Forbes with 17 while Michael Mudingayi added 9.
The girls’ games saw the Shaunavon Silhouettes also remain undefeated in league play as they got the road win in Maple Creek 55-49. Kortlynn Fuller had 18 points to lead the Silhouettes while Kerigan Stevenson added 14. Maple Creek had two players with 13 each – Alex Mason and Payton Bock. The other girls’ game saw the Swift Current Jr Ardens defeat Herbert on home court by a score of 60-57. Kyla Morante had 22 points to lead the Ardens while Ballie Williams contributed 18. Olivia Peterson was the top scorer for the Laurels with 21 while Jewel Jacobson added 16.
