SHSAA Executive Meeting

SHSAA EXECUTIVE MEETING
Tuesday October 24, 2004
Conference Call

Call to Order
President Wade Weseen called the meeting to order at 12:30pm. Present on the telephone were Ralph Eliasson, Lyle McKellar, Wade Weseen, Jim Lissinna, Vicki Moore, Dan McDougall, Larry Segall, Marvin Renneberg, Angela Tillier, Barb Riley, Larry Lafrentz, Kevin Vollet and Kim Platt. Missing with regrets Jack Nepjuk.

1. Sheldon-Williams - Use of an Ineligible Student
Sheldon-Williams Collegiate participated in Girls Soccer games with 2 ineligible players. The 2 players are students of Western Christian High School. The schools have filled out the joint sponsorship agreement required.

MOTION by Tillier/Riley to accept the joint sponsorship agreement from Sheldon-Williams Collegiate and Western Christian High School and waive the forfeiture of games called for in the Bylaw. CARRIED

MOTION by Linnell/Moore to send letter of concern to Sheldon-Williams Collegiate, Western Christian High School and RHSAA. CARRIED

2. 6A Basketball
The office staff attended the Regina and Saskatoon District Meetings at the end of September. Both groups have indicated that they are proceeding with a Super 8 Tournament. A request for compromise was made with both groups. The SHSAA office has not received written notification of the Regina and Saskatoon decision.

3. Basketball Meetings
The SHSAA will host 2 basketball meetings to discus classification, playoff format and rules source. The meetings will be take place the last week of October and will be held in Regina and Saskatoon. Information will be emailed to all schools and will be posted on the SHSAA website.

4. 9-Man Football Rotation
The 9-Man Football hosting rotation was changed and printed in the 2004-2005 Handbook. The office has received some calls from the 9-Man Coaches with regards to the change. The office staff was directed to deal with the controversy as they saw fit.
