Junior Boys' Basketball

1. F.I.B.A. rules will be followed.

2. Junior Boys' may dress an unlimited amount of players.

3. The practice start date will be determined at the September coaches meeting. The motion will be determined by the Remembrance Day date.

4. Eligibility must be placed on the SHSAA web site twenty - four (24) hours prior to each team's first league game.

5. The winning team is responsible to report the game results.

6. League Structure: Junior boys basketball will be one league, with this league holding a championship.

7. Unless permission is received from the Commissioner:
- all games will be double headers (6:15 and 8:00 p.m.)
- a 15-minute warm-up is allocated for all games.

8. Play-offs: All teams make the play-offs. Each league will conclude with a city championship.

A) After the first round preliminary – of the playoffs and following each round of play – teams will be re – shuffled. That is the top team will always host the lower team – based upon the game results.

Teams will be placed in brackets based on the final standings:

Quarter Finals
Bracket A - 8 vs 1 and 5 vs 4
Bracket B - 7 vs 2 and 6 vs 3

Semi Finals
Winners - Bracket A
Winners - Bracket B

B) We will complete the season with the City Finals at the U of R.

9. Junior Boys must be under 17 as of midnight, August 31st of that school year.

10. Ties:
- Ties in the standings will be broken by the following procedure:
- record between the tied teams
- In the event that there is a three-way tie in the standing after league play, we will break that tie in the following manner:

There will be no more than a twenty (20) point difference when using scores to break ties in the event that all other mechanisms cannot break the tie. The points will be removed from the Offense.

11. Tournament Selection:
- Each team may participate in a maximum of three events beyond one hosted by itself
- A team may travel out of the city to a maximum of two events.
- A team is allowed to participate in a fourth event as a host

12. A junior player who dresses for a minimum of one regularly scheduled senior league game that player will no longer be eligible to participate as a Junior and must remain on that Senior team for the duration of the season. A junior player may participate in tournaments or exhibition games as a member of that Senior team without losing their Junior eligibility. That player may also join the Senior team for the league playoffs once their season has concluded.

In the event that a school does not have a senior team and is not able to complete a coop agreement a senior age player(s) may participate on the schools junior team under the following conditions:

a) The player(s) is ineligible to participate in the playoffs

b) The school must forfeit their final standing after regular season play is completed and will occupy the last place position.

c) In the event that there are two or more schools using senior players the schools will finish in the last positions based on their standings at the end of the regular season.

Junior Girls' Basketball

1. Girls will use a size 6 Ball.

3. Junior Girls may dress an unlimited number of players.

5. Eligibility must be placed on the SHSAA web site twenty - four (24) hours prior to each team's first league game.

6. The winning team is responsible to report the game results.

7. League Structure: Beginning with the 2003 - 2004 season Junior Girls basketball will be divided into two separate leagues, with each league holding a championship.

Large Schools / Small Schools

8. Play-offs: All teams make the play-offs. Each league will conclude with a city championship.

Teams will be placed in brackets based on the final standings:

Quarter Finals
Bracket A - 8 vs 1 and 5 vs 4
Bracket B - 7 vs 2 and 6 vs 3

Semi Finals
Winners - Bracket A
Winners - Bracket B

Senior Girls' Basketball - revised Apr 10, 2008

1. Girls will use a size 6 Ball.

3. Senior Girls may dress a maximum of 15 players. (14 players for Provincials)

4. The date of the first practice will be decided by a motion from the coaches. This motion will be determined by the November Remembrance Day date.

5. Eligibility must be placed on the SHSAA web site twenty - four (24) hours prior to each team's first league game.

6. The winning team is responsible to report the game results.

7. League Structure will be established in Spring, prior to the basketball season.

8. Unless permission is received from the commissioner:
- all games will be double headers (6:15 and 8:00 p.m.)
- a 15-minute warm-up is allocated for all games.
- senior girls will play prior to senior boys for double-headers. Game time is 6:15 PM.

9. Playoff Structure:

4A (a) Top four from each conference
5A Top 8 into a bracket format
4A Top 8 into a bracket format

(a) winner of city final progresses to a 4A regional tournament. Winners of
regional tournaments progress to Hoopla. If Lumsden, Greenall or Notre Dame win the city championship, a second Regina team may compete in the regional tournament. Lumsden, Greenall and Notre Dame are not part of the Regina District and cannot represent Regina in provincial play.

Coaches will be asked to nominate candidates from their team and a ballot will be produced.

- A team is allowed to participate in a fourth event as a host

The 10 players from each of the 4A and 5A Boys and Girls conferences, who receive the most votes, will make up the First and Second All Star teams.

- record between the tied teams

- In the event that there is a three-way tie in the standing after league play, we will break that tie in the following manner:

(i) The ratio of points scored for, divided by the points scored against, in games amongst the tied teams, will be calculated. A maximum twenty (20) point differential will be used. The amount needed
to achieve the twenty (20) points will be taken away from the winning team's offensive score. The team with the lowest ratio will be awarded 3rd place amongst the tied teams. If there is still a tie, then the highest overall points against will determine the 3rd place standing.

(ii) The winner of the game between the two other tied teams will be awarded the higher standing.

12. A junior player who dresses for a minimum of one regularly scheduled senior league game that player will no longer be eligible to participate as a Junior and must remain on that Senior team for the duration of the season. A junior player may participate in tournaments or exhibition games as a member of that Senior team without losing their Junior eligibility. That player may also join the Senior team for the league playoffs once their season has concluded.

13. Coaches will choose their top ten (10) players from all players nominated. Ten (10) points will be given to the first choice and one (1) point for their last choice. The top ten (10) players including ties will be all star recipients.

Senior Boys' Basketball - revised Apr 10, 2008

1. F.I.B.A. rules will be followed.

2. Senior Boys' may dress a maximum of 15 players (14 for the Provincials).

3. The date of the first practice will be decided by a motion from the coaches. This motion will be determined by the November Remembrance Day date.

4. Eligibility must be placed on the SHSAA web site twenty - four (24) hours prior to each team's first league game.

5. The winning team is responsible to report the game results.

6. League Structure will be established in Spring, prior to the basketball season.

5A: Top eight teams - bracket format.
4A (a) Top four from each conference

a) The winner of the city final progresses to a 4A regional tournament. Winners of regional tournaments progress to Hoopla. If Lumsden, Notre Dame, Harvest City, Western Christian or Greenall win the city 4A title, the second place Regina team may progress to the regional tournament. Lumsden, Notre Dame and Balgonie are not part of the Regina district, and cannot represent our district in provincial competition. Harvest City will compete in the 1A category and western Christian will compete in the 2A category.

9. All-Star Game:

Coaches will choose their top ten (10) players from all players nominated. Ten (10) points will be given to the first choice and one (1) point for their last choice. The top ten (10) players including ties will be all star recipients. 10. Tournaments
