5. Wrestling
Rules:
- Teach
your wrestlers that if they have an opponent in a dangerous
hold (such as an Olympic leg lift with the head in the wrong
direction) to let go rather than score points and injure
the other person.
- Each school may submit an unlimited number of wrestlers per weight class
at the City Wrestling Championships. It is understood that
although this change has been made, only two wrestlers per
school will earn points towards the overall City Championship.
But four wrestlers per school per weight class may go on
to the Provincial Championships.
- All
wrestlers participating in the city meet must be made eligible
24 hours prior to the meet.
- Weigh-in
for the city meet: All competitors must report for the first
weigh-in to be held between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. on the
first day, there will be a .2 kg weight allowance. The Commissioner
or an appointed representative must be in attendance at
the official weigh-in to verify all entries.
- Coaching
is allowed in the corner but no criticism or questioning
of the referee. Next stop in action, politely approach the
referee.
- No
exhibition match is to start after two hours from the time
the dual meet started. (If the dual meet takes longer than
two hours it should be completed).
- For the City Championship five (5) wrestlers or less in a category will
constitute a Pool and six (6) or more in a category will constitute a
Draw.
- Girls
shall be allowed to wrestle in the RHSAA. All girls will
compete in the appropriate weight classes against girls
from other schools.
- The
coaches from schools placing first and second in the city
meets shall be the provincial coaches. Additional coaches
will be assigned to supervise the Provincial Team.
- Any wrestler wearing braces on their teeth, must wear a mouth guard
- The high amplitude throw is no longer awarded 5 points; is now awarded 3 points.
- Athletes that fail to present themselves for a match, or for weigh – in, are disqualified from the entire competition and do not place. CAWA Rules – Article 31b
- A fifth (5th) place wrestler WILL NOT have the right to challenge the fourth (4th) place wrestler at the qualifying tournaments leading to the Provincial Tournament.
6. Intercollegiate
Meets:
- All
teams will compete in one league, with a boys and girls
league.
- The
league will begin in December.

All league matches will start at 5:30 pm.
- Weigh-ins
will be conducted by each coach and will be forwarded as
entries to the host school by 12:00 pm
the day
of the league
match. For league dual meets there will be a 2 kg weight
allowance.
- All forfeits are recorded as five (5) points. If a team does not attend a meet the score will be recorded as the number of actual wrestlers times five (5) points per forfeit.
7. Although
we may allow wrestlers from one school to wrestle with another
school for dual matches, in the City Championship each wrestler
must compete for his/her own school and a Staff Advisor from
that school must be present during that event.
7b) Wrestlers placing in the top six (6) in the Elite Divisions of the
Miller and Bedford Road Tournaments regardless of the weight category
will receive the following points:
First - 10
Second - 7
Third - 5
Fourth - 3
Fifth - 2
Sixth - 1
The points accumulated will be used to seed the top four (4) wrestlers
in each weight category at the City Championship. Points for each
wrestler will be submitted with the school's city entries.
7c) For weigh in at the City Championship the coaches will be provided with a roped off area in full view of all scales and all competing wrestlers.
Effective September 2009 the weight classes will be as follows:
