4.5.1. Discussion: How do we identify officials in your
division and provide a clinic in the spring? Should
we hire people to be at our district track meet to be
on site the day of the meet to help out? Executive committee
will look into getting people in place for the spring.

5. Reports
5.1. SHSAA - Larry Lafrentz
5.1.1. Please put the SHSAA yearbooks in your library
5.1.2. Each Athletic Director was given a School Sport
week poster to put up in their school
5.1.3. Mary Linnell, Ralph Eliason, and Dan McDougall
are going off the executive
5.1.4. Vicki Moore Lyle McKellar and Mark Edmonds are
new to the executive this year
5.1.5. The organization of the SHSAA will be the same
for the 2005-06. 13 Districts.
5.1.6. Starting 2007 SHSAA will be calling each new
Division a District even though they will follow the
school division boundaries. There will be 14 districts.
5.1.7. SHSAA will be developing guidelines (guiding
principles) toward the organizing of provincial championships
5.1.8. Two criteria for students to starting high school
sports. Age 16 as of September 1st, and the year they
enter grade 10.
5.1.9. Only teaching staff are eligible to coach without
any paperwork. All others must have all the paperwork
completed through the SHSAA. All Coaches must complete
the paperwork each year for every sport.
5.1.10. Please fill out the officials' registry for
all sports, football, volleyball, basketball, and wrestling.
The SHSAA will start enforcing the rules against schools
that do not fill in their officials' registry.
5.1.11. There will be a 6A category for Basketball this
year. There will also be two sportsmanship awards given
at Hoopla for each gender.
5.1.12. Age clarification for Cross-country in handbook.
5.1.13. Curling provincials will be the first weekend
in March for the next two years. But after that it will
move to the last weekend of February.
5.1.14. Football - new rule regarding blocking below
the waist this year.
5.1.15. Volleyball Regionals - will only take the top
2 teams from the District to Regionals. The tournament
draws have been set and will be one day tournaments.
5.1.16. New sports policy coming to put new sports into
the SHSAA provincial championships
5.1.17. Make sure to fill in your Team Registration
form by the end of September and send a check to the
SHSAA. Select all teams you may play. If you do not
have a team let the SHSAA office before the E5 date
and the money will be credited to next years' amount.
5.1.17.1. Check the calendar for all your E5 dates for
each sport throughout the year. Primary schools pay
the team fee to the SHSAA.
5.1.17.2. There is a one week window for the school
population form E10 online. September 30 - October 6/2005
5.1.18. The yellow pages from the handbook are available
in the ExNet area of the website. (Contact and school
directories) Athletic directors are now referred to
as the high school representative to the SHSAA.
5.1.19. Your tournaments can be sanctioned online to
put on the website. You only need written sanction if
teams from out of province attend your tournament
5.1.20. Coaches' Symposium was a great success

5.1.21.1. Tuesday - Recognize your officials
5.1.21.2. Thursday - Coaches appreciation
5.1.22. There are open bids for provincials. Check the
newsletter, need to be in by Dec. 1st
5.1.23. Coaches cards are expired you need a new one.

5.4.1.1. Sand Golf - Terry Orban - looking for sand
golf courses to host and participants at the District
level
5.4.1.2. Junior Golf - the commissioner is encouraged
to use walkers along with each group
5.4.1.3. Cross Country - make sure to use the electronic
timers
5.4.2. Winter Activities
5.4.2.1. Soccer - District needs to create a playoff
format to find a District champion. The President will
prepare a structure for playoffs this fall.
5.4.3. Spring Activities
5.4.3.1. Jr. Badminton Interdivisions has no playoffs.
The round robin will decide the representatives to Districts.
5.4.3.1.1. Teams that are not able to go on to the next
level, the next highest team will be asked to go. Please
let the commissioner know the day of the event if your
team cannot move onto the next level.
5.4.3.2. District Track
5.4.3.2.1. Griffiths will not be available next year
but the North Battleford facility has been booked for
our regular Saturday. May 27. 3000's may be run in Biggar
on the Friday evening.

6.6. Dissolution of the West Central High Schools Athletic
Association and formation of the new Division Athletic
Association
6.6.1. Direction to Executive
6.6.1.1. Discussion
A committee composed of present Division representatives
and others on the current Executive linked to the new
Division will meet initially prior to January to begin
some ground work towards a new entity. Once the new
Divisions are in place in January it is hoped that representatives
from each school will be able to meet and put the new
structure in place prior to September of 2006. Representatives
from Kenaston and Davidson need to be included in discussions.
6.6.1.2. Distribution of funds in June 2006
It was suggested that the District give money back to
the schools based on the number of teams entered over
the past year(s). A final decision on this will be a
part of the meeting for the new structure. The new District
will have to set up a new fee structure.

6.10.1. Use the Junior eligibility form on our website
