Correspondence
4.1 - Letter sent to SABO by SHSAA regarding assignment
of officials at HOOPLA.
4.2 - 4.4 - Approval of eligibility from SHSAA regarding
certain student athletes from West Central.
4.5 - Reply to SMBA. Club tournaments will not be posted
on the SHSAA website.
4.6 - Reply from Jud Heilman
4.7 - Letter from Judy Walker regarding length of playoff
format for Sr. District Curling. Reply will indicate
that the present format gives us the clearest indication
of the best team in West Central and that the present
format is also good preparation for the Provincial tournament.
5.
Reports
5.1 - Financial Statement - attached (current balance:
$14838.73)
*Curling cost is the rental of the facility in Elrose.
*Motion to accept report (Wayne/Carl). Carried.
5.2 - Officials Commission
*District official clinics are for our senior officials
and Division clinicians and recruitment of officials
remains a priority.
*Should there be a per diem for officials at Districts
and beyond?
*Is there a need for coaches rating of officials? If
this is done it needs to be done as constructive feedback
for continuing growth of officials.
*District volleyball clinic will be Wednesday, September
8, 2004
at 7:00p.m. in Rosetown. Ken Parker will be clinician.
There will be an attempt to run a football clinic this
spring with the help of Football Sask.
*Lyle, Ken, Craig, Jeff, and Richard Berezowski will
work on proposal to assist officials who indicate at
District clinics that they would like to officiate at
Provincial competitions.
5.3 - Activity Reports
*printouts will be sent to all schools by e-mail
*BCG to be approached about being able to submit financial
reports on activity report.
5.3.1 - Jr. Curling
*One call was received with regards to trying to expand
the present format. There has been no follow-up.
5.3.2 - Sr. Curling
*dress code for teams was discussed and each school
should make their coaches and athletes aware of procedures.
5.3.3 - 1A to 4A Basketball
*Divisions should declare a division champion where
possible to aid in the seeding process.
*All schools are asked to please check for District
Championship trophies and bring them to the Fall AGM.
*Schools are encouraged to use the proper procedure
with regards to declaring student eligibility (use of
completed E-5) prior to District playoffs.
5.3.4 - Jr. Basketball
*discussion of 7 team format. We cannot add an 8th team
to the draw and complete the tournament on one day.
5.3.5 - Nine man football
*playoff format will be requested (west conference for
6 man has submitted their playoff structure).
5.4 SHSAA
*Craig passed on the following information:
New resolutions will be brought forward regarding sportsmanship,
participant conduct, jewellery, and fan ejection. Schools
are encouraged to promote sportsmanship at interschool
athletics by use of signage. Sasktel is now a sponsor
of the SHSAA. Resolution deadline is May 12. There is
a promotional video in the works concerning the benefits
of High School athletics to students' complete education.

New Business
6.1 West Central Recognition Program
*Selection committee to include: Lyle, Terry, Ken, and
Jeff.
*Nominations to close April 23.
6.2 Team Sanctions
*Motion to fine Eston Sr. Boys for late withdrawal from
the 2A Boys District playoff (Carl/Ken). Carried.
6.3 Extra Medals
*please return if you have any left from hosting your
championship.
6.4
Coaches Symposium
*$300.00 available.
*Applications by May 31.
*Motion to AGM in the fall regarding a matching amount
of $300.00 available from West Central.
6.5 Resolutions
6.5.1 to SHSAA
Be it resolved that officials who are passengers to
Regional Basketball playoffs be reimbursed for traveling
time at a rate of $10 over 70 km one way, $15 over 100
km one way, and $20 over 150 km one way. (Jeff/Jason)

6.5.2 to West Central
Be it resolved that in the sport of curling
a) Schools are responsible for facility rental.
b) Profits are shared equally (50/50) on the schools
cost of the facility is covered.
c) In the case of a financial loss then West Central
will pay a maximum of $300.00 for Senior Curling and
$100.00 for Junior Curling.
d) Gate admission as per policy. (Craig/Ken). Carried.
Be it resolved than in Senior and Junior curling the
"A" qualifier is awarded the hammer for the
final. (Craig/Terry). Carried.

Motion 2 - tabled to fall AGM
6.6 Constitution, Bylaws, and Policy
*Craig has done some initial leg work in the rewriting
of the Constitution and Bylaws. Individuals are asked
to look the proposals over and send feedback by the
end of June. Lyle and Craig will work on updating the
Policies for the fall AGM.
6.7 Badminton - clarifications and reminders
*In interdistrict play there is only a round robin competition
- no playoffs
*Earliest start time for interdistrict play is 1:00p.m.
*Start time for districts is 10:00a.m.
*Dress code to be enforced.
6.8 Track - clarification and reminders
*Hurdles for midget aged competitors were changed at
the last AGM.
*Provincial coaches will be selected at the meeting
following the meet.
*Officials - Greg Mamer and Blake Lyons will be approached.
*Secondary track equipment to be purchased by Saskatoon
West and they will be reimbursed by the District. (Craig/Cliff)
Carried.
6.9 SHSAA AGM
*Rosetown is responsible for door prize
6.10 Activity Rotation
*Proposed rotation for 04-05 was presented. It will
be updated and sent to all schools prior to the end
of June along with other information regarding the West
Central AGM.
