Report from SHSAA December 2013 Executive meeting
The SHSAA Executive Council has adopted the CAWA rules (revised November 2013) for SHSAA competitions (http://www.wrestling.ca/pdf/WCL_Rulebook_2013_v2.0.pdf). The following are SHSAA modifications to the CAWA rules in addition to or in place of those already listed in the SHSAA handbook.
LENGTH OF MATCH:
- Bouts are 2 rounds of 3 minutes each with a 30 second intermission between rounds
- CAWA has some age classification differences but since the SHSAA covers a range of age classes - 2 rounds of 3 minutes will be used
TECHNICAL SUPERIORTY:
- One of the criteria for Technical Superiority will be determined by:
- When one wrestler attains a 10 point advantage over the opponent (the CAWA rulebook uses 7 points)
- There are no 5 point manoeuvres in SHSAA competition
TIE-BREAK PROCEDURE:
- The present SHSAA tie-breaker of a sudden death period will no longer be used. The tie-break procedure outlined in the rules (pages 22 - 23; Article 17b; Winner of Bout; c-e) will be used in SHSAA competition.
- Technical points as outlined in the CAWA rulebook (5 point actions not a part of SHSAA)
- Cautions
- Last point scored
