CHINOOK SCHOOL DIVISION SPORTS REPORT

The senior basketball league took a break the last week in January for exams. There were 3 junior games:
Maple Creek girls 46 @ Gull Lake 24
Waldeck girls 87 @ Frontier 2
Shaunavon boys 65 @ Waldeck 63

Thanks to Frontier (commissioner June Evenson), Ponteix (commissioner Trish Carleton) and Fox Valley (commissioner Dondalee Deis) for hosting our senior section playoffs. The following teams are advancing to districts in Shaunavon on February 5/6:
Girls: Hodgeville, Ponteix, Maple Creek and Leader.
Boys: Eastend, Val Marie, Ponteix, Swift Current Comp, Hazlet.
Mixed: Eastend, Frontier, Swift Current Comp, Hodgeville, Hazlet, Fox Valley and host Shaunavon.
Draws on Friday will go at 2:00, 4:30 and 7:00. Draws on Saturday will go at 9:30 a.m., noon, 2:30 and 5:00. The boys and mixed will play both Friday and Saturday but the girls will only curl on Saturday. The A and B winners in each category will both advance to SHSAA regional curling at the end of February.
Our junior curlers will also play on February 5/6 with our section playoffs. Our host sites will be:
Cypress Hills section – at Burstall on Feb 5 and 6. Schools taking part include Maple Creek, Fox Valley, Burstall, Leader, Hazlet and Success.
Rolling Hills section – at Hodgeville on Feb 6. Schools taking part include Hodgeville, Swift Current Comp, Ponteix and Gull Lake.
Whitemud section – at Consul on Feb 5 and 6. Schools taking part include Consul, Eastend, Frontier, Val Marie and Shaunavon.
The A and B winners will advance to Districts in Hodgeville and Morse on Feb 26 & 27.
