The Maple Creek Redmen will advance to the 2A nine man provincial football final.  Maple Creek hosted Clavet on a beautiful warm November afternoon in the semi final.  The Redmen made some exciting last minute plays to win by a score of 46-40.  They will now travel to Lumsden on Saturday, November 12 for the provincial final.  Good luck Maple Creek!

                The Swift Current Colts lost in the 3A twelve man league final on Nov 5.  The Colts played in Moose Jaw against Peacock and lost by a score of 57-20 to end their provincial bid.  Congrats to the Colts and all their coaches on a successful season!

                SHSAA volleyball conference play was held on November 5 for all girls teams in the 1-4A classification.  Thanks to our hosts Eastend, Shaunavon and Maple Creek!  Results were as follows:

1A girls at Eastend:

Eastend finished 0-2 and did not advance.

Ponteix finished 1-1 after pool play then lost to Mankota in the semi (2-0) and will not advance.

Frontier finished 1-1 after pool play and then beat Glentworth in the semi (2-0) but lost to Mankota 2-1 in the final.  Frontier will now advance to Regionals.

1A girls at Ecole Mathieu:

Vanguard/Hodgeville girls were 3-1 after the round robin and finished 1st overall.  They will now advance to Regionals.

1A girls at Beechy:

Hazlet finished 0-2 and did not advance.

Cabri finished 1-1 after pool play then lost to Eston in the semi (2-0) and will not advance.

Fox Valley finished 1-1 after pool play and then beat Elrose (2-1) in the semi.  They then beat Eston in the final (2-0) to win the conference title.  They will now advance to Regionals.

The 1A girls regional will be hosted by Fox Valley but at Maple Creek due to a gym conflict in their own school.  There will be 6 teams – Fox Valley, Eston, Mankota, Frontier, Vanguard/Hodgeville and Avonlea.  The first game will be scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and the final for 6:00 p.m.  Top 2 advance to provincials. 

2A girls at Kerrobert:

Gull Lake had a record of 2-2 (good for 3rd) while Leader had a record of 1-3 (good for 4th) after the round robin.  Neither team will advance.

2A girls at LCBI:

Herbert had a record of 1-3 which put them in 4th place but they will not advance. 

3A girls at Shaunavon:

The Silhouettes had a record of 3-1 which was good for second place.  They will now advance to Regionals.

4A girls at Maple Creek
The Rebelles had a record of 2-2 which was good for third place and they will now advance to Regionals. 

                The boys conference tournaments will occur Saturday, November 12.  We host in two locations:

Vanguard will host 1A boys at Hodgeville.  Teams participating include Frontier, Leader, Vanguard and Lafleche. Top 2 advance.

Fox Valley will host 2A boys.  Teams include Fox Valley, Hazlet, Beechy and Eston.  Top 2 advance.

4A – Shaunavon travels to Outlook.  Top 3 advance.

                In 5A volleyball, both the Swift Current Ardens and Colts will be on the road for regional action on November 11 and 12.  The Ardens will play in Weyburn while the Colts will be at Estevan.  Top 3 will advance to provincials. 

                The Fox Valley senior girls volleyball team captured the SWAC senior girls league title on Nov 1 at home.  The Legends beat Hazlet in the first match 25-21, 25-18. The second match saw Maple Creek defeat Vanguard 25-23, 22-25, 16-14. In the final, it was Fox Valley playing Maple Creek with Fox Valley winning by scores of 25-15, 25-22.  The consolation side saw Hazlet beat Vanguard 25-20, 27-25. Congrats to the Legends and their coach Pat Wilde!

            The first level of junior volleyball playoffs have also been completed.  Thanks to all our hosts – Consul, Val Marie, O. M. Irwin, Fox Valley, Ponteix, Ecole Centennial and Waldeck!  The teams advancing are as follows:

Cypress Hills boys – 1st Fox Valley, 2nd Cabri

Cypress Hills girls – 1st Fox Valley, 2nd Leader

Rolling Hills A girls – Swift Current Comp

Rolling Hills A boys – Swift Current Comp

Rolling Hills B girls – Ponteix

Rolling Hills B boys – Wymark

Whitemud girls – 1st Consul, 2nd Frontier

Whitemud boys – 1st Frontier, 2nd Shaunavon.

The SWAC junior district finals will be held on Saturday, November 19.  The boys will be at Fox Valley while the girls will be at Ponteix.  Good luck to all our teams participating!
