SWAC is upping its social media presence. We have a twitter account (@swacsports), Instagram account (swacsports) and a SWAC Sports facebook page.   SWAC welcomes everyone to follow us and keep up on sporting events in the southwest.

Good Luck to the Swift Current Comp male golf team (Ethan Fizzel, Gaige Calkins, Theo Lautsch, Nikhil Pool) who are attend the Provincial Championship in North Battleford on Sept 21/22.  In addition, Kaden Gramlich, from Fox Valley School, also qualified for the individual championship.

SWAC football teams were in action this week.  Everyone was playing “Under the Lights” and we thank all the local sponsors who make it all possible.   The SCCHS Colts improved to 2-0 on their season.  They won their home opener against Moose Jaw Vanier.  The final score was 28-1.  Great start by our 12 Man football team.  In the clash of 9 man football in the South West, Maple Creek hosted the Shaunavon Shadows on Friday, Sept 14.  The hometown Redmen came away with a 42-14 win.

There are five games scheduled for our football teams in the upcoming week.  On Monday, Sept 17, our 6 man football team from Gull Lake will travel to Outlook (LCBI) to play their rescheduled game.   The SCCHS Colts will host another home game.  Their opponent will be Weyburn.  Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00.  Our other 3 football teams will be doing a lot of traveling.  Gull Lake will hit the road again on Friday, Sept 21 to play Central Butte.  On that same Friday, Maple Creek will have their first ‘away’ game against Notre Dame.  Shaunavon is also on the road to Lumsden.  Good Luck, teams!!

The SCCHS Colt and Arden soccer have a very busy week ahead.  On Wednesday, Sept 19 the Colts soccer team hosts Moose Jaw Central boys.  Game time is 4:30.  The following day, Thursday, Sept 19, the SCCHS Ardens will also host Moose Jaw Central girls.  Game time is still 4:30.  The Arden team is determined to begin another streak of wins.

On Saturday, Sept 22, both SCCHS teams are in Moose Jaw to play double headers.  The Ardens and Colts will play MJ Peacock and then MJ Vanier.

The SWAC senior girls’ volleyball league has 5 teams entered (Eastend, Gull Lake, Vanguard, Hazlet, Ponteix).  First league night is Tuesday, Sept 18.  Hosts for the first week are Ponteix (Vanguard, Hazlet attending) and Eastend (hosting Gull Lake).  First matches are scheduled for 5:00…but times might be adjusted, so check with your schools.
