FOOTBALL

Gull Lake was in Outlook for their 6 man playoff game on Saturday, Oct 20.  The Lions had a couple of key injuries that took the wind out of their sails.  In the end, the final score was 48-14 for LCBI.  The Lions are eliminated from the playoffs.

Maple Creek traveled to Fort Qu’Appelle for the last league game in their 9 man schedule.  They lost a very close game 24-22.  The Redmen will go to Nipawin for a quarter final match up on Saturday, Oct. 27th. Shaunavon had a home game against Indian Head for their last league game.  The Shadows could not come away with a win, so their season has come to an end.

The Colts played in the Moose Jaw 12 man league semi-final Saturday, Oct 20.  It was a defensive battle, and, unfortunately, the Colts came out on the losing side of an 8-2 score against Moose Jaw Central.  This was the final game of the season for the SCCHS Colts.

SOCCER

The SCCHS soccer teams won their semifinal games and challenged for the MJ Soccer league championship on Tuesday, Oct 16.  Ardens won 5-2 over Weyburn to keep their league title.  Colts lost 4-1 to Moose Jaw Central.

Herbert boys were the hosts of 1A boy’s regional on October 20th.  They defeated Delisle in the semifinal (6-1) and then won an exciting final over the top seed Maymont.  The Laurel’s scored on a penalty kick late in the second half and withstood a last ditch charge by the Maymont team.  Herbert is headed to Lake Lenore for the Provincial Championship.

Herbert girls were at the Dalmeny regional.  The Laurel’s played Moosomin in the quarter final and won a nail biter 1-0. They faced a tougher challenge next and lost in the semifinal against powerhouse Middle Lake.

SCCHS Ardens hosted the Regional championship on Oct 19/20.  The girls easily won their semifinal match 6-1 against Estevan and came up against rival Weyburn in the final.  SCCHS had an early lead, but two goals from Weyburn late in the first half, seemed to take away the momentum of SC.  The Ardens eventually lost the game 4-1.  Even with the loss, the Ardens are off to SHSAA provincials in Prince Albert.

The Colts were in Regina for their regional.  They won the semifinal against Weyburn (5-0) and came up against Yorkton in the final.  The top seeded Colts won by a score of 3-0.  3A boy’s provincials will be held in Saskatoon.
