Sports and Activities Guidelines

Member update - May 27, 2021

On May 25, 2021, significant updates were announced by the Provincial Government in regard to outdoor youth sports.  As a result of the announcement, SHSAA has adjusted the seasons of play such that Golf, Soccer, Track & Field, and Football school programs have opportunity to continue with, or initiate, school sport opportunities this spring until June 18, 2021 where allowed by the Board of Education or Educational Authority of Independent Schools.  The member update can be viewed by clicking here.

Member update - April 26, 2021

On April 20, 2021, updates were announced and published for individual, outdoor non-contact sports.  Although these changes do not impact any previous correspondence regarding SHSAA seasons of play, there may be some useful/helpful information for programming purposes.  The member update can be viewed by clicking here.

Updated SHSAA Seasons of Play - April 12 - June 18, 2021

Although youth sport opportunities continue to be limited to small group training sessions, the SHSAA Executive has established seasons of play for spring 2021.  The seasons of play allow for an extension of some current activities and the opportunities to revisit some of the fall 2020 activities.  In all circumstances, the allowance for activity will be determined by the Sport and Activity Guidelines of Re-Open Saskatchewan please click here.

SHSAA Membership was provided with an update on seasons of play on March 25An addition to the update was included on April 19.

To assist Members that may have the opportunity reintroduce school sport this spring, SHSAA has begun work on a Return to School Sport document for spring seasons of play.  The revised issue of that document (April 19) is available by clicking here.

SHSAA Badminton and Track & Field Provincial Championships - January 25, 2021

The SHSAA Executive Council met on January 24, 2021 and as a result of their meeting discussions, the decision was made to cancel the 2021 SHSAA Badminton and Track & Field Provincial Championships.  A notice of the decisions can be viewed by clicking here.

Updated Public Health Measures - December 14, 2020

New Public Health Measures - November 27, 2020

New health measures were announced on November 25 (effective November 27 - December 17).  These new measures impact school sport in our province.  Please click here to review the press release 

When District Presidents and Athletic Commissioners meet on December 3, they will be presented with updated documents that will include guidelines and recommendations for competition in the winter activities.  The publication of these documents will occur after the Christmas break, if and only if, competition is once again available to youth sport, and activities are approved by educational authorities in Saskatchewan.

These are difficult times for our province, please remain diligent and stay safe.
